GNOME's plan to jettison X11 sessions would be "very disruptive" for Ubuntu, which planned to support Xorg—likely for the final time—in its next LTS, out next year.
I'm not the biggest Gnome fan, but I absolutely agree with dropping X11. It's going to cause some issues initially, but it's one of those things where a lot of things just aren't going to fully support Wayland until they have no other option.
As long as X11 exists as a fallback, you'll have projects/hardware that are going to fully ignore or half-bake Wayland support, but something as large as Ubuntu not supporting it would be a large push to these things supporting it.

@Tizen I've written about TIDAL Hi-Fi before. It's a nice app, some nice integrations, and a solid choice. But it's not a /native/ app, it's just a wrapper around the official web client. More choice is always good though, especially with TIDAL.
