I know saying "don't let it get to you" isn't helpful, but that's bullshit. Yours is the most useful site I know of for gamers on Linux, and while not every article is of use to me personally, I've never seen "slop."

I wouldn't trust anything said on an actual slop site like reddit. I've followed your site (RSS) since probably the first roumors about valve and proton which I think you wrote about. Can't say I've seen any slop so far.
Companies have no ethics nor morals, especially not banks and their ilk, so they have no business putting their nose into that. Today it’s incest, when will it be magic, representation, and LGBTQ+?
Valve has no way to fight this. Banks/payment processors could simply decide to not work with valve and they have no way of doing business.

@johnskk @ThePfromtheO Also, as counterintuitive as it is for me to suggest it, you can read the article without actioning the cookie thing at all if you're using a browser with reader mode: just hit the reader mode button or shortcut and it'll do its thing. I'm not sure how well reader mode picks up some of the in-page callouts I use (pull quotes, info boxes, spec tables) but, just an idea.

I THINK the page doesn't show them all even if you click "show more" a bunch of times. The notice at the top says "Viewing 50 latest updates" and stuff like, say, Elden Ring, isn't there (which I can't confirm but also can't imagine not being on the list as "works, EAC")

Lost Ark is a free to play MMO from Smilegate RPG and Amazon Games that was previously blocked on Linux platforms like SteamOS / Steam Deck but now works.
Steam could have chosen to sell such games only via wallet balance / gift cards, sidestepping any concerns payment operators had. That they have instead had to remove them entirely shows massive overreach from these payment orgs.
What a lovely reminder that people seriously need to stop pushing that platform so hard. Valve isn't pure evil like some corporations these days, but they sure aren't all that good either. It's a locked in platform with serious limits and lack of sufficient competition allowing them to do stuff like this to publishers and devs.
@nazokiyoubinbou This happens literally *anywhere*. If the store takes money, they have to follow the processor rules. This is not a Valve issue, it's a payment processor issue.
Marking this down specifically against Valve is not the way to go.
I'm not so sure about that. I don't see such issues with, for example, GoG. But then too, even if that is 100% the case, Valve is one of those that could put their foot down and refuse. I guarantee no payment processor would want to lose Valve for very long with the business going to a competitor. That's one of the advantages of having a near monopoly. But the other (from Valve's point of view) is that they can make decisions like these and people won't stop using their service.

For example Walmart shutting down whole stores simply to stop unionization (and their evil propaganda they run for their poor employees).
So now they're coming for Valve. It's that alliance of fundamentalist Christians and online payment providers that has been harassing all kinds of social web platforms, pressuring them to either forbid their users from publishing any nudity and anything vaguely sexual or else face the shutdown of their cash flow.
If steam took #Monero #XMR (ie an actually #private cryptocurrency unlike bitcoin/ethereum) there would be no payment processor authority that could enforce this, just #steam would set the rules, thats an advantage of #cryptocurrency
