A friend told me about Sea of Thieves yesterday. When looking it up, it said Easy Anti-Cheat and Steam Deck verified. As I can't find it in your list I thought I could tell you. Don't know though how you intend to fill that list.

OMG! is on 🦋 (and has been for a while) so if you're checking it out, and fancy giving us a follow (I share every new article there once live, but only select ones shared here), that'd be ace!

Link in bio (as the cool kids say).

@martinlentink I've not looked into bridging. I know it'd make my life easier, but it feels a bit detached from the factory floor, so to speak.

For now, I'd rather visit each site individually and do things manually, engage with users where they are etc.

"To bridge your Bluesky account into the fediverse and interact with people there, follow @ap.brid.gy on Bluesky.

After a few minutes, your Bluesky account will appear in the fediverse as @[handle]@bsky.brid.gy. For example, @snarfed.bsky.social on Bluesky is bridged into the fediverse as @bsky.brid.gy "

@martinlentink I love how you used factory floor here. Which means you've done your part as well. Thank you for keeping this website up for us.

Not leaving or reducing Mastodon fwiw, it's too vibey 🤙.

I also don't plan to auto/cross-post or bridge as I find it a bit impersonal (not a critique on others doing that, more a me thing).

Posting updates manually to each site is slower but it does mean I visit each, see replies, read the timeline on each so nothing is missed/unapproved.

Even so, you may know about Openvibe app if you need to 8-) openvibe.social/
in reply to Winston Smith

It looks a cool app. I should try it out. It's perhaps more something I'd use for my personal accounts (if I still had them). On here, I'm forever having to manually view hidden replies or approve followers on Mastodon due to my instance's rules - not sure if a mixed app handles that. And sharing, Threads only supports one hashtag, Bluesky doesn't support custom animated GIFs, and my Mastodon instance rules make ALT text mandatory - when I tested Buffer sharing ALT text didn't apply here.

too vibey? I don't understand what that means, if it is a good thing or a bad thing.
in reply to omg! ubuntu

oh yay! I have been following OMG Ubuntu for like a decade now, and I am very happy that you post and respond on here. The Fediverse is almost like a time capsule - it feels like the internet from the late 90s and early noughts. I feel like Jono Bacon would thrive on here. I feel like he was one Ubuntu Community Leader who really helped Ubuntu expand and in a fun, friendly way.
in reply to Dustin Tungilik MacDonald

@Dustwin Oh Jono, what a guy. I think he would('ve) loved it here too. Mastodon has a very unique culture, and it's only truly experienced by using Mastodon as Mastodon.
in reply to omg! ubuntu

I'm thinking this is the right way to play it. It feels something like developing native apps versus cross platform. It's more work for a richer, native experience.

I'm here, BSky, and (still on) Twixter and using some crossposting tool doesn't seem quite right... maybe in small doses for promoting blog posts or something, but visiting each space on their own terms is like the good ole forum days.

in reply to rexcord

Yeah, that's exactly it for me. All of these networks have their own strange micro-cultures, and I kinda /dig/ it. it also means when I visit and post things I tend to tailor it more to the way that space operates. Cookie-cutter cross-posting doesn't let me play to each network's strengths, or engage/enjoy the space.

Each social media service has its own set of users and different opinions. It's always better to get views from all the available sources.

uBlacklist is my favourite Chrome extension, so I can block ridiculous websites from Google search, like comic book (dot) com that do crap like:

"PS5’s Biggest New Game Now Supports the Steam Deck"

(It's LEGO Horizon Adventures, it got Verified)

chromewebstore.google.com/deta…

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Interesting! But why use Google search in the first place. DDG or Brave consistently produces less shit in their results these days. At least that’s my experience.
in reply to Inge P.

@ipetter Because Google is infinitely better than DDG and Brave are a terrible company
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

I needed that one, too!

Now I need to teach the stupid Google Assistant or Google News app to ignore such sites.

Brutal takedown by @pluralistic of the prepper mindset that has infected many.

The world has a collective action problem, and this for many issues (large and small). We've been individualized to the core, and this is indeed reductive. Societies of people are more than the sum of their parts. This historical truth of solidarity is consistently denied and leveraged by the select few for their personal gain.

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Yeah, I just had a look on wikipedia:
"As the game approached launch, Nintendo became concerned that the title "Star Fox" could be considered too similar to the name of the German company "StarVox". Thus like its predecessor, the game was rebranded as Lylat Wars in certain PAL territories."

But... they already renamed the SNES game Starwing, so why they didn't just call the N64 game Starwing 64 is beyond me. Anyway, looking forward to the recomp.

Another great read from @pluralistic about the reason that disaster fantasies are popular among the right: it replaces actual disasters caused by *systemic problems* with imaginary disasters to be solved by *individuals*, which in turn elevate the status of the prepper to a one-man (let’s face it, it’s usually a man) hero who saves the day.

It also strikes me that the #TESCREAL nonsense that #AI techbros seem to gravitate to is just another flavor of this prepper story: why bother saving eight billion real humans today when you can save countless trillions of potential humans tomorrow by building a treasure trove that you deploy into your favorite technologies? You’re not a profit-driven resource hoarder—you’re a #longtermism one-man superhero!

And tangentially, it jibes also with why Critical Race Theory and Wokeness are perceived as such a threat by the right: these concepts rightly call attention to a broken and perverse *system* which cannot be fixed by individual action. I can see how this may be deeply offensive to people who fear giving up their main-character status in their head canons, and balk at the prospect of being forced to cooperate with others to solve a problem.

In reading Taoist philosohpy there's a lot of emphasis on leading from behind, subtlety, and the risks of fame and praise. I think one reason Taoism never got real popular in the West - or got hacked into New Age BS - is that it's basically anti-grift, anti-self aggrandizemenent, and often about humility.

Want to use Snap apps in Linux Mint? The distro ships a block file to 'forbid' their install, but it can be easily removed to give you access to software like Spotify, Vivaldi, and JetBrains.

A rather weird article on Wired, in which journos trail Waymo AVs in SF for a day, and a human taxi driver has clearly been @notjustbikes orange-pllled:

"“If this is the future of urban transportation,” he says, motioning up at 53516F3.., “then we have to keep designing cities with giant streets and giant parking lots and traffic lights and traffic lanes and all this infrastructure that takes up so much space and benefits so few people proportionally.”"

DEFOLD ฟรี game engine ทำลงเครื่อง console ได้ด้วย ก็เป็นอีกตัวเลือกที่น่าสนใจเทียบกับ Gogot
