I realize this is broad but can anyone recommend advanced Common #lisp books/resources? And by "advanced" I mean the nitty gritty of pro quality software, REPL tricks, how to profile/monitor/deploy/manage packages/FFI calls etc. I've read PCL and PAIP so I have a modest grasp of the language itself.
I'm sticking with SBCL for now.

Grove cranes are vital for heavy lifting, but their efficiency and safety depend on a network of electrical components—wiring, controllers, and sensors. These Grove crane parts are the unsung heroes of crane operation, often unnoticed until a failure disrupts work. Understanding their functions and sourcing reliable replacements is crucial for keeping your crane running smoothly.
The wiring system in a Grove crane connects critical components like controllers, sensors, lights, and safety switches. Older models relied on simple wiring for basic tasks like starting the machine or powering alarms. Modern cranes, however, use complex wiring networks to support advanced features like load moment indicators (LMIs) and anti-two-block systems.
A single frayed wire or corroded connector can cause malfunctions, from minor delays to serious safety hazards. Regular maintenance checks can identify these issues early, preventing costly downtime.
Controllers act as the brain of a Grove crane, processing sensor data to manage functions like boom movement, winch operation, or emergency shutdowns. Key units include the LMI computer, engine control module (ECM), and hydraulic controllers, all working in sync to ensure precise and safe performance.
When a controller fails, you might notice blank displays, inaccurate readings, or complete system shutdowns. A trusted crane parts supplier can provide the exact controller for your crane’s model and year, ensuring compatibility and minimizing disruptions.
Sensors serve as the crane’s eyes and ears, monitoring pressure, angle, weight, and position. Found on booms, outriggers, and winches, they feed critical data to controllers for functions like load monitoring and anti-two-block protection.
A faulty sensor can cause erratic behavior, such as slow responses or false alerts, which can be challenging to diagnose. Since many Grove crane parts are proprietary, using generic sensors risks calibration errors or safety system failures, making it essential to source from a reliable supplier.
Replacing electrical components can be complex. Controllers may differ in firmware or pin configurations despite appearing identical, and wiring harnesses can vary in function even if they look the same. A knowledgeable crane parts supplier verifies compatibility using your crane’s model, year, or serial number to avoid costly mistakes.
Electrical issues often mask deeper problems, like a damaged wire causing a controller failure or a sensor needing recalibration. Thorough diagnostics are key to resolving issues effectively.
Electrical components are prone to wear from heat, vibration, or moisture. Key areas to monitor include:
Proactive maintenance targeting these vulnerabilities can extend component life and prevent unexpected failures.
Grove cranes are built for demanding jobs, but their electrical systems—wiring, controllers, and sensors—are critical to their reliability and safety. When issues arise, precise diagnostics and high-quality Grove crane parts are essential to keep operations running smoothly.
Partnering with a reputable crane parts supplier ensures you get the right components, reducing downtime and maintaining the efficiency and safety of your Grove crane.
Thai immigration is truly zero-knowledge. You gotta provide a bunch of documents to get document A. Then to get the document B, you need to provide the prior document A *plus* all subsequent documents to receive document A. This is so pointless. The fact that you have document A proves you had all the documents to get A, so why does document B require everything up to that point? Imagine a database without the relational part—no ability to do a join—you have to carry the baggage of every row to create a new row.
I swear… I have used a whole tree of photocopies at this point & they have 400 copies of the same passport & a hundred photos of my face despite having that webcam at all desks. None of this stuff changes… & they stuff that does like my face aging should be gotten on the spot instead of me reusing old passport photos since you can only get a stack of 20. Immigration already checked me into the country & have all that information so why is my burden every minor paper to make 2 copies of stuff they already have? Is it like some sick test that I can hold onto a document? It doesn’t help the reader/verifier to have a novel of documents versus a single, focused, streamlined form.
Hand-drawn maps of your home (no OSM, no Google printouts allowed)? Both a (paid) stamped proof of money as well as the easy-to-lose bank book showing the same amount in the book (less official)? Marriage certificates & the affidavit to prove you were single before the marriage (already a prereq)? Photos outside/inside your house? Getting a friend to take off work for the government to visit you & witness it (despite them bringing multiple agents)? Copies of bills despite also having a copy of ownership of the property? What are we doing?
I find all of this such a waste of time, effort, money, paper… but you have to do it all over again *every year*? Not like amend with updated documents, but the entire stack of documents, & photos, & visits every single year.
This is not how the system should be designed. I don’t condone how DOGE was operated, but like there truly are so many low-hanging things that could be done easy the process for both sides of the equation.
The folks at my local immigration are lovely, truly. But this is one of the many flaws of Provinces vs. States. They feel like their hands are tied when I ask about “why” I would need all these document, & it all just comes down from Bangkok. There is no room for the local system to fix bad design at the top level.
The cherry on top was I wanted to leave a complaint at the link provided by a QR code in immigration… which used a URL shortener with tracking… leading to a Google Form… that required authentication (no anonymous)…that was expired.
So the 🇵🇭 Philippine Statistics Authority released the 2024 census report last Thursday:

A fellow #Wikidata user had already imported the new population figures down to the municipal level (not yet barangay level) using QuickStatements.
As for #OpenStreetMap, this is yet another pile of things to add to my never-ending to-do list. 🫠 But I’ll see if I can jury-rig a solution using #Level0.
