Valve made it even easier to see who played on Steam Deck in user reviews gamingonlinux.com/2024/08/valv…

That's pretty useful. I hope they expand this to some more granular options eg "Played on system similar to mine" (Using hardware survey data) or "Played on Windows/Mac/Linux (Proton)/ Linux (Native)"

I wish they'd let you set a custom resolution, I have an older TV with a non-standard 1368x768 resolution which is frustrating to use to the deck because it just doesn't scale properly...

Good news. There are two more wild California condors. Condors B4 and B6 were released August 21 to join 11 other Prey-go-neesh in the skies over Yurok traditional lands. Another incredible achievement from the Yurok wildlife office and Northern California Condor Restoration Program.

Fly free, you two. Be safe and make babies.

in reply to Ian Rose

It's been 120 years since the last condor was seen flying over Oregon. They were once fairly common sights at the coast, over the Columbia River, and elsewhere around the state.

If they ever return to us, it will be largely down to the work of the Yurok tribe, so if you want to see that happen, here's how you can support their work:

There are SO many great Android phones like the Xiaomi MIX Flip that, sadly, don't support eSIM.

Thankfully, eSIMs don't actually have to be embedded in the device despite their name.

Just got my hands on what's likely the best eSIM adapter - more to say soon.

in reply to Mishaal Rahman

If you're wondering why you'd want to add eSIM support to a phone that doesn't have it...it's because eSIM plans are incredibly cheap. Seriously, just look up the kinds of plans you can get on eSIMdb dot com.

To test this, I got a 30-day, 3GB T-Mobile data plan for $2.63.

And if you're wondering how the heck this is even possible, read this article I wrote a while back on the topic of removable eUICCs: esper.io/blog/android-dessert-…

Yes, they're actually a thing.

Good news for your Friday: an EV battery recycling facility just opened in Ohio, and will recycle lithium-ion batteries from EVs, hybrid cars, e-bikes, and energy storage systems!

According to the recycling company, Cirba Solutions, the plant will be able to churn out enough battery-grade metal salts to power 250,000 new EV batteries every year, the company claims.

As a reminder, a whooping 0% of gasoline is recyclable 🤨

Linux vs Windows being head to head on performance is crazy. The conversation around desktop Linux is changing, and more and more people are listening!

Thank you to @killyourfm for this great article on Forbes about our performance, to @frameworkcomputer for being a wonderful platform to enable this, to the Fedora contributors for literally making Fedora Linux, and to the Linux community at large! 🚀

Awesome article. I've seen Linux outperform Windows in Blender and PovRay rendering. It's still quite behind in video editing, though, e.g. DaVinci Resolve.

What frustrates me the most with Linux is the sad state of NVIDIA drivers. One day they crash at boot. Another day they're full of glitches. Another day they degrade terminal performance to the point of being unusable. Let's not talk about Wayland. I've had to downgrade to my Intel iGPU as a result.

in reply to Fedora Project

Gaming on Linux is awesome. I am also a recent convert.
Ironically, counter strike 2 is the game that I have the most problems with on Linux. Surprisingly many stutters, and shader compiling for a really long time almost daily.
