For over one year I've been harassed, threatened, doxxed, misgendered and abused by Luna the Foxgirl, author of Inochi2D.

Due to her attacks and manipulation of others, I no longer feel safe contributing to Linux GPU drivers, and I will be retiring my current model.

If you use and support Inochi2D, please be aware that you are supporting Luna’s harassment, doxxing, misgendering, manipulation, and abuse.

If you believe these acts don’t belong in the VTuber and FOSS communities, please consider using and supporting other software.

in reply to Kichura

@Kichura Other people will continue working on the GPU drivers (I hope).

I do hope to make some contributions to muvm/FEX still, and maybe some other work on the sidelines.

in reply to Kichura

i have same question i hope others will continue
and new chips will also got support
because if my m1 pro will supported anyway since is already working
but in future (its not soon) i will want new hardware
in reply to marie🏳️‍⚧️

@marie @Kichura As far as I know the current team is not prioritizing new chip support, so I don't know what will happen with those...

I’ve seen firsthand how much Lina has suffered, and how hard she fought to stay kind in the face of cruelty. I’m proud of her for telling the truth. Please listen to her.

I also hope Luna values her own life. Responding to pain with more harm only deepens the tragedy. There is always another path.

She is the kind of person who would doxx me and leak personal information, and there was a lot of personal information in our DMs.

I deleted everything after she first doxxed me back in August last year, because at that point I knew she couldn't be trusted with anything private.

By then she had already been calling me an abuser to mutuals in DMs for months as well as subtweeting me, so if there was any evidence to collect and provide to actually show any wrongdoing, she had plenty of time to do that before I wiped our chats. I guess she still can't let go of that lie, so now she's using the fact that I protected myself after her doxxing to try to frame me somehow.

in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

I expected it, but it's honestly really sad that Luna keeps tweeting that she just wanted things to be over, when she did all the escalating. The cognitive dissonance is ridiculous.

In fact, after I posted this, I quickly started getting told by mutuals that she's DMing them again. She can't stop.

in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

Ugh, awful situation. Thanks for all your work — my main computer runs Asahi Fedora and I really appreciate it. It’s awful that FOSS communities seem to attract this sort of behaviour.
in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

I know Luna is expressing some regret and admitting some wrongdoing now, but she has in the past, only to revert back to escalation later.

And one year in, she still hasn't realized that I didn't abuse her, she just chose me as the scapegoat for her own internalized struggles. I don't know if she ever will.

in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

Apparently there are people who think this is all so unbelievable I must be forging evidence.

If any of what I said were untrue, Luna would have denied it, which she hasn't. Her posts are also archived on various abuse sites.

If Luna tries to deny anything, I'll have no qualms proving her a liar.

in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

I remember the Google Doc about Luna, that was bad, but this is another level of horrendous.

Reading this newer post was a painful reminder, the mention of KF and then the death of said close friend of yours felt like a gut punch.

It's sad to see it's come to this, I feel horrendous for Cyan and you.

Ending the newer post on a positive note was nice, I hope you all the best for the future.

in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

@cyan I am sorry that you have to suffer that.
Please take care of yourself, and of each other.
And thank you for everything you have done.

Working on Apple GPU drivers was also my primary income source. Due to Luna's manipulation and attacks, I lost that and I'm currently running on savings.

vt.social/@lina/11449316681710…

I haven't been very open publicly about this before, but working on Apple GPU drivers was, indirectly, the majority of my income until now.

Due to Luna's manipulation and attacks, I'm now left coasting on savings trying to figure out how to survive long term.

I'm not in imminent danger of being homeless or anything, but it's an unstable situation, and now I worry about how long my savings will last.

If VTubing and little gigs don't work out, I might have to get a full time in-office tech job, and that would mean the practical end of my VTubing career.

Inochi wasn't really working for me when I tried it last year and have been using github.com/xianfei/SysMocap/ instead. Glad I wasn't too invested in Inochi's ecosystem.

I am curious which projects are you looking at now that would be a good VTuber software?

I mostly use them for online classes with kids, because they definitely prefer being taught by an anime character. Some adults have learnt to appreciate the anonymity it gives too.

in reply to rewarp

@rewarp I'm looking at multiple options for 3D, but yeah, 3D is definitely the way to go! It's actually an open ecosystem with many options, so you're not locked into one project (whether open or closed).

I think what specific tool you choose just depends on what you need. I didn't know about that one! There's also VNyan, Warudo, SnekStudio, VSeeFace and more.

in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

I use VRoid Studio to create my characters nowadays, which is made by pixiv and exports 3D VRM models.
You said Inochi2D's been forked before, but I just don't remember what the fork is called.
in reply to Mr. ESE💧🕹️

@mrese9317 It's nijigenerate, but I tried to contribute last year and the author sic'd me to Luna, so at least at the time it was still too associated with her for it to be safe for me to involve myself with it in any way.

I don't know if that has changed since then.

in reply to Mr. ESE💧🕹️

@mrese9317 For 3D there are plenty of options. For 2D it's either Live2D or Inochi2D/Nijigenerate as far as I know.
in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

i'm so sorry to hear all this. i hope you can find your peace and i look forward to your presence again when you're in the right place for it, you've been an inspiring figure
in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

damn… i had no idea this was going on at all. it sucks to lose a pioneer in both apple drivers and rust drivers

im glad u’ve lawyered up. a lot of the gossiping should be mitigated once the results come out, tho it sucks that ur personal info has leaked..

i really do wish u a peaceful life. pls take care of urself ^^

best wishes

in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

a bunch of toxic folks you had to deal with, from the deadnaming twat to the CoC team clearly formed to put out fires and be callous rather than ensure safety and humane conduct in the community. Sorry you had to deal with all of that.
in reply to unexpectedteapot

@unexpectedteapot At least some of the folks in the CoC team I personally know are lovely people, and the person who interacted with me directly was very understanding and cordial.

Rather, I think they are just effectively powerless against Sima, because despite the documentation on conflicts of interest (which was edited in while this was happening), it was never designed to be able to deal with conflict involving such an influential person in the community. CoC can't realistically kick out or reprimand Sima in any way other than getting her to resign from CoC itself.

That's my take anyway.

in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

I get that, and I appreciate the good faith you have in them. But I must say that an enforcement team that can't enforce against powerful individuals in the community is one that is *systematically* designed for complacency, whether those in it are aware or not. In real life, this is how corruption works. In even the most corrupt of countries, you'll find anti-corruption admins and institutions, but they "are powerless" against the powerful.

Anyway, I am glad you are past being involved in that unhealthy environment and I hope you continue to recover, and do the things you want around the people who respect and appreciate you.

in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

holy shit I'm sorry you had to go through all that 😢 lawyer up tbh
I hope you will get the peace you deserve
And from the screenshots, you weren't at fault at all.
in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

this is really horrible, i wish you and Cyan the best in overcoming this whole situation :c

i couldn't manage to articulate my disappointment in the CoC members and everyone else who should have been here to help you; i'll just say that this is really disheartening, especially as someone who does Rust kernel dev today thanks to your streams from years ago.

take care :c

in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

this was hard to read. I can't imagine the hardship you went through and the pain you felt while collecting the evidence for the posts.

You've made tremendous progress with the GPU drivers and other tech. I and many others look up to and respect you and your accomplishments.

Please, take the time to heal from this.

PS: Lina, you're fantastic. Thank you for being an inspiration for me. I've never interacted with you but I wanted you to know you've been a major motivation to me.

in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

more than anything, this proves to me once again how absolutely socially fucked Linux Kernel development (and especially the maintainers) is.
in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

good grief, i'm sorry to hear you've been going through this. nobody deserves to be treated like that. i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemies. i hope you and Cyan can get through this.
in reply to Asahi Lina (朝日リナ) // nullptr::live

I wish, however unlikely it sounds at this point, that all of this ends soon and you're afforded the peace of mind you deserve. Best of luck!
